CHOOSE LOVE – MLK DAY 2019

CHOOSE LOVE - MLK DAY 2019

On Monday, January 21, 2019, members of the New Canaan community and beyond gathered at the United Methodist Church of New Canaan for the 17th Annual Interfaith Service of Worship celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event brought together residents of various ethnicities, faiths, political backgrounds, and ages all in the name of love.

In fact, this year’s event theme was Choose Love based on Dr. King’s famous quote, “I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

In addition to Guest Speaker Dr. George B. Walker, the event featured the testimony of ABC Scholar Ryan Hernandez (Class of 2019), as well as a performance of John Legend’s “Glory” sung by ABC Scholars Adrian Davis (’20), Ajamo Carraby-Jones (’21), Axel Boly (’21), Richard Hernandez (’22), and Osasu Uwa-Omede (’22), and accompanied by Ivan Tamayo (’21) on the piano.
