Jelani Alladin, NCHS '10 - Since graduating in Spring 2010, Jelani Alladin has been working very hard on receiving his BFA in Drama from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. His focus is primarily on musical theatre. Jelani is also minoring in Sociology. This past summer he had his first professional gig as a company member of the
Mac-Haydn Theatre in Chatham, NY. While there he performed in six shows, 10 times a week! The productions included Annie, The King and I (Kralahome), Jekyll and Hyde, Swing!, Grease (Teen Angel) and Carousel. This fall Jelani has been cast in the ensemble of the Tisch Drama Stagework's production of Violet, which is one of the University's industry showcase productions. He is thrilled to be working on such an amazing project.

Joveto De Carvalho, NCHS '11 - Joveto De Carvalho graduated from New Canaan High School in 2011 and is currently attending Holy Cross, where he is exploring pre-med as a possibility. He has joined the crew team at Holy Cross, and is now a Division 1 athlete! He misses everyone at ABC, and promises to visit. Joveto says, "ABC has not only molded me as a student but has molded my overall well-being and character as the person I am today. It's given me so much and done so much for me, I want to come back to see how everyone's doing, and support the ABC program and the new ABC students!"

Joveto's Host parents were Bitsy and Doug Richardson.
Eric Ho, NCHS '07 - Eric Ho graduated from New Canaan high school in 2007, and from Union College in 2011 with a Bachelors degree in Psychology. Elijah Westbrook, NCHS '11. This is what he has to say: I am having a great time here at Quinnipiac University. I recently became a news anchor for Quinnipiac's news station. I really feel that New Canaan High School has given me a head start in that area. I am also involved with ballroom dancing and soon will be competing against other schools in the area. In addition, I absolutely love the classes that I am taking this semester. One of the nice elements here at Quinnipiac is that the classes are more discussion based. Almost all of my classes begin with us sitting in a big circle and we discuss either the readings from the night before or what we thought the topic of the day meant to us.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate ABC and all of the things that it has provided for me and my other ABC brothers. Because I lived away from home in my high school years, transitioning into college wasn't as bad as I thought. Finally, I hope that I can become a helping hand at the ABC House and for the boys. I am really proud of them and hope that they keep up all of the amazing work.

His host parents were Wendy and Richard Hurst.

Darryl Cummings, NCHS '10 - My name is Darryl Cummings. I graduated from New Canaan High School in the class of 2010. I am currently attending the University of Connecticut, majoring in Biomedical Engineering, and hoping to soon possibly double major in Computer Engineering as well. I currently work in the Residential Life department at UConn as well as the in the Center for Health, Intervention and Prevention as an AV Technician. Through both of these jobs I have been able to assist students as well as researchers and engineers in the school. I am also active in NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) and Engineering Ambassadors, both organizations focused on promoting the field of engineering to others, including minorities and younger students that would never have considered the field as a possibility. Attending New Canaan High School has not only helped me develop as a student, but as a person. I have developed social skills that I've been able to use not only in the classroom, but at work, and in the different organizations that I am involved in.

Darryl's host parents were Joanne and Jim Slattery.

Shamiel Gonzalez, NCHS '10 - I was in the graduating class of 2010 from New Canaan High School. I am currently attending St. Lawrence University where I am majoring in Music and possibly minoring in Performance and Communication Arts. I am involved in two Dance Ensembles and a chorus, and I have had many showcases, choreographed with others and learned many new things. During the time I was part of ABC, I was able to develop social skills and enhance my work ethic. ABC definitely prepared me as I moved from high school to college. I am able to use what I learned in class, with other people and in my own life.
